Hitting the trails is an exhilarating experience – especially after being cooped up all winter. The feeling of running through a forest feels like it’s a part of our prehistoric DNA. Even though nature is in our backyard, it’s not always easy to know where to find the best running trails.

So to get you started we’ve put together a list of top-notch trail running spots in and around Campbell River.

Elk Falls Loop Trail

At 25 Meters, Elk Falls plunges into the steep moss covered canyon below and then on to the Campbell River estuary and Discovery Pass. The trail is flat, wide and well-groomed doubletrack. Old growth forests comprised of giant Western Red Cedar and Douglas Fir make for a serene setting.

Campbell River Canyon View Trail

Campbell River Canyon View Trail is a popular 4.8 kilometer loop moderate terrain trail featuring a scenic waterfall, rapids and during the fall – spawning salmon.

Ripple Rock Trail

A 7.7 kilometer moderate out and back trail that crosses a river and overlooks the site of the 1958 Ripple Rock blast – largest, non-nuclear explosion at the time.

Rebecca Spit Trail on Quadra Island

Rebecca Spit Trail is a 2.1 kilometer moderately trafficked loop trail located on Quadra Island. The flat meandering trail leads you on a path between two rocky beaches on both sides.
